Dr. Rana Abdul Jabbar Khan

Chief Executive Officer

Dr. Rana Abdul Jabbar Khan is a highly accomplished electrical engineer and visionary leader with over thirty years of experience in Pakistan’s power and energy sector. Holding a Ph.D. from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT), Australia, and a Master’s in Engineering from the University of Wollongong, Dr. Khan has held top executive positions across major national utilities, Independent Power Producers (IPPs), and public-sector organizations.

Before joining Quaid-e-Azam Thermal Power (Pvt.) Limited as Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Khan served as Managing Director, National Transmission and Despatch Company (NTDC), where he led transformative reforms in governance, operations, and digital transformation. His tenure witnessed the approval of Pakistan’s Grid Code 2022 by NEPRA, the completion of landmark transmission projects, the establishment of NTDC’s first state-of-the-art training center, and the introduction of ERP and e-office systems to modernize company operations. He also pioneered health insurance coverage for NTDC employees and their families, ensuring accessible and affordable healthcare.

Dr. Khan has also served as Chief Executive Officer of several key power organizations, including the Alternative Energy Development Board (AEDB), Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO), and Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO). As CEO AEDB, he advanced Pakistan’s renewable-energy agenda by steering the Alternative and Renewable Energy Policy 2019, promoting wind, solar, and hybrid energy projects, and facilitating national targets for 20 % renewable generation by 2025 and 30 % by 2030.

Earlier, as Chief Operating Officer of Quaid-e-Azam Solar Power (Pvt.) Ltd., Dr. Khan played a pioneering role in developing Pakistan’s first utility-scale solar power plant, leading its design, EPC negotiations, and technical integration. His efforts helped establish a national model for renewable generation and technological innovation in Pakistan’s energy landscape.

A recipient of multiple commendation and appreciation certificates from WAPDA and the Ministry of Energy, Dr. Khan’s contributions span power generation, transmission, distribution, policy formulation, and R&D initiatives. His international affiliations include memberships with the IEEE (USA), IEEEP Pakistan, Australian Solar Council, World Renewable Energy Forum, and the German Renewable Energy Network.

An accomplished researcher, Dr. Khan has published over fifty international research papers, including book chapters, on energy systems, smart grids, and renewable integration. His leadership philosophy centers on innovation, accountability, human-capital development, and sustainable growth in Pakistan’s power sector.

Syed Salman Hassan

Company Secretary

Syed Salman Hassan is working with Quaid-e-Azam Thermal Power (Private) Limited since its inception. He has diversified experience of over 18 years of company secretarial practices in energy sector. He holds MBA degree in Finance and is also a Fellow member of the Institute of Corporate Secretaries of Pakistan.

Shamsul Aziz

Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Shamsul Aziz is a seasoned professional with proven success in financial and operations management to achieve the organizational mission. He developed leadership qualities with a solid record of contributions leading to improved financial and technical performance and enhanced internal controls. He has successful track record and in-depth experience of over 33 years of independently planning and handling projects from planning, development of feasibility studies to execution including dealing with project lenders, regulators and other Government agencies for their successful execution.
He has solid background and expertise in managing the financial and operational affairs of a corporate entity of substantial size especially in Energy sector. He holds an MBA degree in Finance from IBA Karachi and is also a Certified Financial Consultant (CFC) from Institute of Vancouver, Canada.
He is well versed with the dynamics of energy sector of Pakistan. He has worked in Siemens Pakistan for about 8 years, in Private Power & Infrastructure Board (PPIB) for one and a half years, and in Southern Electric Power Company Limited on top position for 15 years. He is associated with QATPL since June 2015.

Syed Wasim Ur Rehman

Chief Technical Officer

Syed Wasim Ur Rehman serves as the Chief Technical Officer (CTO) at Quaid-e-Azam Thermal Power Pvt Limited (QATPL). He previously held the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) from January 11, 2023, to November 9, 2025, during which he spearheaded major organizational improvements. His leadership emphasized Continuous Improvement (CI), Training and Development (T&D), and active team engagement to enhance company performance.
Under his guidance, QATPL achieved key milestones, including the distribution of its first-ever dividend of Rs. 3.2 billion, followed by an additional Rs. 5 billion, marking a historic moment for the company. He joined QATPL in July 2015. His professional journey of 36+ years includes distinguished tenures in esteemed organizations i.e. 1755 IPP PP11 GDF Suez KSA, 175 MW CCPP Daharki (FPCDL), 2700MW Rabigh PP (SEC) KSA and WAPDA. He started his career as Junior Engineer in 1990 from GTPS WAPDA (KAPCO), Kot Addu and later on served in various senior leadership roles such as Project Manager, General Manager Technical, General Manager Plant, Engineering Manager, Chief Technical Officer, Chief Executive Officer. Diversified exposure of Project Management, Development, Operations, commercial aspects, dispute resolution/arbitration and closeout.
He holds a BSc in Electrical Engineering from UET Peshawar, is a Certified Director, and has pursued continuous professional development, including Level 3 certification from the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM), UK (2014), and the Executive Leadership Programme at the University of Oxford (Jan–Mar 2025). His passion for learning and personal growth is reflected in his dedication to professional excellence.

Usman Saeed

General Manager Admin & HR

Mr. Usman Saeed is an experienced professional with 18 years of dedicated expertise in the fields of Human Resource Management, Administration, Procurement, and Security Management. His multifaceted career is defined by a relentless commitment to excellence and a passion for fostering organizational growth and employee well-being. His visionary leadership has been instrumental in driving employee engagement, talent development, and organizational culture enhancement. With a keen eye for operational efficiency, Mr. Saeed has adeptly managed administrative functions, optimizing resource allocation and ensuring a seamless workplace environment. His focus on cost-effective solutions has consistently delivered operational excellence. Fahad Amjad Khan

Fahad Amjad Khan is a qualified Chartered Accountant from KPMG with a diverse experience in different sectors including Banking, Real Estate, Manufacturing, Retail and Public Sectors in IT, Audit, Finance and strategic decision making. Fahad has more than 20 years of Experience of Audit, Business Process review and Documentation, Business Plans, Budgeting, Costing, Projections, Cash flows, Accounting, Financial Management, Financial Reporting, Oracle Implementation.

Chauhdry Abdul Qadeer

General Manager Operations

Chauhdry Abdul Qadeer has an experience of more than 3 dacades working in the Thermal Power Generation Plants that includes Operation & Maintenance and Project Execution, both inland and abroad. He possesses an Electrical Engineering degree from UET Lahore and MSc Engineering from Queen Mary & Westfield College, University of London. Loves to work in environments where professionalism, perfectionism and schedule-based completion of milestones are the ultimate standards. He worked closely with PGRC - UET Lahore, in planning and designing of special syllabus for MSc Engineering Degrees in Electrical and Thermal Power Engineering, realizing a UET Lahore & QATPL giant leap towards an Academia – Industrial cooperation in Pakistan since 2022. A firm believer in teamwork and always extends his unconditional help and support to the teammates at work.

Rao Imtiaz Ahmed

General Manager Coordination

Rao Imtiaz Ahmed is an Ex. PCS officer (Retired) having a bachelor’s degree in sciences having vast field and office experience in public sector. He served as a Magistrate, Collector, Assistant Commissioner, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner, in different districts of Punjab. He worked as Administrator of 4 Tehsil Municipal Administrations (TMAs) and Administrator District Council. Also, he worked as Additional Secretary (Development), Local and Community Development Department and Additional Secretary Energy, Punjab. He worked as CEO, Lahore Waste Management Company as well. He has many appreciations/Commendation certificates in recognition of his meritorious/outstanding performance from level of Chief Executive of Province to the level of Head of District Administration to his credit. He won NFEH, CSR Award 2023. He is working as General Manager (Coordination), QATPL since OCT,2021 looking after CSR activities being carried oud by QATPL.
